Eleven of Hudson County’s top wrestlers are off to Atlantic City with visions of medals as they prepare to compete in the state tournament at Boardwalk Hall starting today and continuing thru Sunday.
St. Peter’s Prep has the largest contingent making the trip down the Garden State Parkway with six wrestlers. The six represent the largest group the Marauders have ever sent to the tournament. St. Peter’s Prep has sent five to the state tournament in each of the previous two years. Read More

NORTH BERGEN – St. Peter’s Prep was among the big winners during yesterday’s semifinals and finals in the NJSIAA District 16 wrestling tournament.
The Marauders had eight grapplers win the district in their respective weight classes. They also had three second-place finishes and a third-place to easily win the team points competition. Read More

JERSEY CITY – Trailing by 21 points, St. Peter’s Prep knew it would need a string of big performances from their heavyweights at the end to advance in their NJSIAA Non-Public, North A semifinals bout.
Despite winning six of the final seven matches, the deficit proved to be too big for the second-seeded Marauders to overcome as they dropped a 27-24 decision to Bergen Catholic last night. Read More

UNION CITY – With a lineup among the deepest and most talented in the state, the goals and expectations are high for the St. Peter’s Prep wrestling team. But for all the goals and dreams the eighth-ranked Marauders have, they know it starts in their home county.
Prep achieved the first of what they hope will be multiple post-season titles this winter as they emerged victorious over seven other teams in yesterday’s Hudson County Duels.

KEARNY – Led by the trio of T.J. Witt, Michael Nee and Barry Jimenez at the back end of the lineup, Kearny held off Bayonne 51-28 in yesterday’s matchup.
The host Kardinals finished with a flurry as Witt (189 pound), Nee (215 pounds) and Jimenez (285 pounds) closed out the bout with pins. Kearny also received a pin from David Bush in 145. Read More

JERSEY CITY - How do you heal the emotional wounds of a heart-breaking playoff defeat? For St. Peter’s Prep head coach Anthony Verdi, he hopes the answer lies with a quick return to the mats after his Marauders fell to Bergen Catholic 33-27 in the Non-Public, North A semifinals last night.
“We’re going to try to get them back on the mat right away and not have them sit around until next Friday,” Verdi said. “Make sure they get back on the mat, clear their heads and put this behind them so we can go into the individual part of the season next week.” Read More
