Tigers make mark at Nationals

The New Jersey High School track season may be over, but the Snyder track team continued to make its mark this past weekend at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, NC.
Junior Zamir Thomas led the way for the Tigers’ contingent with a fourth-place performance in the Boys 200-Meter Dash Championship with a time of 21.33 seconds.
In the Emerging Elite division, Thomas set a meet record for the second consecutive year. Already the meet record hold in the 200 from a year ago, Thomas set a new meet record in the Emerging Elite 100-Meter Dash when he ran a blistering time of 10.67 seconds to win the event.
Thomas also placed in a pair relay events. The team of Thomas, Rashawn Taylor, Timoy Malcolm and Dwight Andrews finished fifth in 4x200-Meter Relay with a time of 1:30.62. In the 4x100-Meter Relay, their time of 45.55 seconds in the finals was good for seventh place. In the preliminary heat, the quartet ran a time of 43.14 seconds.
Taylor added a fourth-place finish in the Emerging Elite 200-Meter Dash with a time of 22.24 seconds.
Tyrell Gibbs of St. Peter’s Prep took home third place in the Freshman 400-Meter Dash with a time of 51.40 seconds.
