BAYONNE - For the Dickinson boys cross country team the secret is out. In recent years the Rams have experienced great success within Hudson County with little fanfare.
But as Dickinson locked up a third-straight title at the Hudson County Cross Country Championships yesterday at Steven Gregg Park, the state has had little choice but to take notice of the Jersey City school’s rise as legitimate challenge in the state. Read More

JERSEY CITY – When Pete Llaneza took over as the Kearny’s head coach this spring, some friends and colleagues felt he was entering a no-win situation. In a town where soccer is king, it’s been five years since the Kearny football team has finished with a .500 record and even longer since they’ve appeared in the state playoffs.
While no one is confusing them with a football powerhouse, the Kardinals are experiencing the kind of success which has eluded them in recent years. That turnaround continued on Saturday night as they post their third victory of the season, a 42-16 win over Snyder at Caven Point. Read More

Before yesterday, no runner from Hudson County had taken home gold at the Meet of Champions for as long as anyone can remember. Najee Glass of St. Peter’s Prep and Zamir Thomas of Snyder put an end to the draught as they both won in yesterday’s historic performance at Frank Jost Field in South Plainfield.
“It was a great day for Hudson County,” said St. Peter’s Prep coach Mike Burgess. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had that many individual medal winners.” Read More

The Snyder track team won two events in yesterday’s Bernards Invitational in Bernardsville.
Junior Zamir Thomas set the tone for the Tigers, winning the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 21.47 seconds. He was also the front leg of Snyder’s winning 4x100 Meter Relay team. The quartet of Thomas, Rashawn Taylor, Timoy Malcolm and Dwight Andrews won the event with a time of 43.92 seconds. Read More

SECAUCUS - Yesterday's second stage of the Patriot Invitational was certainly a memorable one for the Dickinson boys track team. The Rams took home three first place finishes in the seven events for the boys. Jose Veras led the charge for Dickinson, winning the 110 high hurdles and finishing second in the long jump, an even which saw the Rams take home the top three spots. Read More

JERSEY CITY – For Lincoln’s Shamar Bey, there wasn’t much memorable about the first 30 minutes of his performance yesterday. But when he got another chance to prove himself on the court late, the sophomore delivered.

JERSEY CITY – First-year head coach Nick Fargo knows his High Tech team has dealt with its shares of challenges. Injuries have decimated the Lasercats’ depth, and a lack of size was painfully obvious on the boards in their division matchup against Snyder.
What High Tech certainly has though are speed and resilience. Those two qualities proved to be the deciding factors as the Lasercats defeated the Tigers 63-57 yesterday to snap Snyder’s 15-game winning streak. Read More

The junior cruised to a convincing 8-1 victory over Ferris' Iesha Crandon to lock up the title for 1st singles as well as the team championship for the Cougars.

JERSEY CITY – Franz Pierre-Louis likes challenges. So when the former Essex Catholic head coach took the job at Snyder this June, he wasn’t deterred by the Tigers’ back-to-back winless seasons.
“It didn’t deter me, it turned me on to the job,” Pierre-Louis said about Snyder’s recent struggles. “It’s a challenge for me and I love challenges. I contacted my coaches that coached with me before and they were up for the challenge as well. It’s a test of our coaching ability as well. That’s what makes this exciting.” Read More
