KEARNY – Bayonne may have had a three-run lead in the bottom of the sixth, but for manager Phil Baccarella it felt like the onset of a recurring nightmare. Four times this season the Bees had lost a lead in the opponent’s final turn at bat and was in danger of making if five as Kearny brought the tying run up to the plate with nobody out.

This time would be different as Mike Santana came on in relief to escape the jam and Bayonne unloaded for eight runs in the seventh to defeat the home Kardinals 12-5 yesterday at Franklin Field. Read More

KEARNY – Just three minutes into the game, but Lincoln was already trailing by 11, had committed six turnovers and head coach Tom Best had already seen enough. Expressing his displeasure with the subtlety of an alarm clock, Best sent one starter to the bench 25 seconds into the game and had two more take a seat within the first three minutes.

KEARNY – In a wild game between North Bergen and Kearny in the quarterfinals of the Hudson County Tournament, it only seemed appropriate that the ending would be bizarre as well. In this case, it is an ending that has yet to truly be determined.

Playing in heavy rain for most of the contest, play was halted with around 19 minutes left in the second half due to lightning. After a roughly 45-minute delay, play was suspended with the storm still going and large puddles on top of the turf at Kearny Stadium.
