But as Dickinson locked up a third-straight title at the Hudson County Cross Country Championships yesterday at Steven Gregg Park, the state has had little choice but to take notice of the Jersey City school’s rise as legitimate challenge in the state. Read More

JERSEY CITY – In previous years, this is the type of match that Holy Family would have lost. The emotion of letting a second-set lead slip away and a couple rough patches in the third set are the type of obstacles that sunk this Falcons squad in the past.
This year however is a different story, as a calmer, more mature Holy Family was able to overcome that adversity to hold off Hudson Catholic 25-15, 24-26, 25-21 yesterday.

BAYONNE – Playing in a division comprised of the county’s smallest schools, Holy Family had been nothing short of dominant this season. But how would they fare against the bigger schools that the Falcons once played on a regular basis?
Yesterday, in one of their first cracks against the bigger schools, Holy Family responded with what might have been their most impressive performance of the season – a 70-34 victory over Union City in the first round of the Hudson County Tournament. Read More

BAYONNE – Off the court, Holy Family forward Diane Forker said that she and teammate Christina Gill are “the only ones who think the other one is funny,” and that “no one else thinks it’s funny.”
On the court, Forker and Gill are anything but a laughing matter for opposing coaches.

BAYONNE – With four key starters from last year’s HCIAA Coviello championship team gone to graduation, Bayonne head coach Pat Longo knew that this season would prove to be one of her most challenging ones as a coach. Despite the challenges that come with rebuilding, the wins have continued to come for a Bees squad that swept Holy Family 25-13, 25-11 in a meeting of in-city rivals.
“It is difficult,” Bayonne coach Pat Longo said about the rebuilding process. “You’re trying to build and figure out who should be where position wise. The key is to build chemistry and let them come together as one unit.” Read More
