Hudson County Tournament Quarterfinals Roundup
North Bergen 5, Secaucus 2
Junior Sabrina Reyes' RBI single broke a 2-2 tie as North Bergen scored three in the sixth inning to advance in the Hudson County Tournament at 64th Street Field in North Bergen.
Nerylix Cerda led off the rally for the second-seeded Bruins (16-4). Kayla Muniz walked and was followed by Reyes. Samantha Izquierdo scored courtesy runner Jaylene Grimes with a squeeze bunt and Jessica Feria capped off the rally with a RBI single.
Feria struck out four and allowed two runs on four hits and three walks for the victory as North Bergen will now face third-seeded McNair in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Seventh-seeded Secaucus fell to 14-6 on the season.
McNair 5, Hudson Catholic 4
McNair scored four runs over the final three innings, including one in the bottom of the seventh to advance in the Hudson County Tournament at Gateway Field.
Georgina Rayo had two RBI for the third-seeded Cougars (20-5). Batia Krinsky and Natalia Estremera were each 2-for-3 with a run and RBI in the victory. Estremera picked up her 13th win of the season as she struck out 12 batters, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks.
Victoria Moyeno, Kristin Cunning, Jessica Hill and Monica Cordova all scored runs for the sixth-seeded Hawks (15-4).
With the win, McNair advances to face second-seeded North Bergen in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Hoboken 8, Bayonne 5
Kayla Morrissette singled in Naomi Olacio for the winning run in the bottom sixth as top-seeded Hoboken overcame an early five-run deficit to advance in the Hudson County Tournament at JFK Stadium in Hoboken.
Olacio had two RBI for the Red Wings (19-2) including a game-tying triple in the sixth to score Jayla Vega. Hoboken scored four times in the sixth after cutting the deficit to one on a Nicolette Martinez RBI in the fifth.
Mackenzie Brown and Julianne Sosa were each 2-for-4 with two RBI apiece for eighth-seeded Bayonne (8-11) in defeat.
Hoboken will host fourth-seeded Kearny in Wednesday's semifinals.
