Like most brothers and sisters, fighting is an everyday occurrence for Chris and Amanda Peterson. Unlike most siblings, Chris and Amanda sometimes take these arguments to the ice.
“They sometimes stop becoming teammates and start becoming brothers and sisters on the bench,” Hudson Catholic coach Frank McGady said with a laugh. “And I have to step in-between them and say knock it off with the fighting. It is funny since you have to remember that they are teammates, but they are brother and sister.” Read More

NEWARK – By nearly every measure it was a game dominated by St. Peter’s Prep. The Marauders held a 40-15 advantage in shots on goal, had a seemingly endless supply of scoring opportunities and controlled the offensive tempo for most of the contest.
But when faced with a hot goalie, all of those advantages weren’t enough to give St. Peter’s Prep a win. Read More

NEWARK – When you play in a division as tough as the Gordon Conference, the margin of error is razor thin for any team. Against a team like Don Bosco Prep, the No. 3 ranked team in the state, that margin is virtually non-existent.
St. Peter’s Prep received a reminder of that as the Marauders were stunned by a pair of goals in the final minutes of their 5-4 loss yesterday at the AmeriHealth Pavilion. Read More

BAYONNE – Before his team’s first game of the season Craig Chwalyk could feel the pressure. Even as he enters his second season as Bayonne’s starting goalie, Chwalyk admitted to still feeling those nerves before hitting the ice. If the senior was nervous, his play between the pipes certainly didn’t give that impression.
Chwalyk made 30 saves in net as a veteran Bees squad opened the season on a strong note, defeating Fair Lawn 3-1 yesterday in a Big North Gold Division showdown at Corpi Arena. Read More

BAYONNE – Getting shots off hasn't been a problem for the Bayonne hockey team. How to convert those shots into goals had proven to be a far greater issue in the past couple weeks as the Bees had been limited to just six goals over their previous five games.
Last night provided a much-needed relief from the scoring drought as Bayonne had a season-best scoring performance in a 10-0 victory over Hudson Catholic at Korpi Arena, snapping a seven-game winless streak. Read More
