States: Secaucus sweeps McNair

Senior Alexis Waters had six kills and five digs for Secaucus yesterday against McNair.

Shannon Waters had 13 kills, 12 digs, seven assists and three aces as Secaucus rolled past McNair  25-22, 25-9 in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA South, Group I tournament yesterday in Secaucus.

Jacqueline McCaffery added 11 digs in the win for the second-seeded Patriots (24-3). Alexis Waters had six kills and five digs. Monica Shterenberg registered four digs and four aces in the win. Danielle Roesing had nine assists, three digs and two kills and Andrea Lunapiena chipped in with four digs and two kills.

The seventh-seeded Cougars finish with a record of 22-5.

With the victory, Secaucus will host the winner of Science Park and Bloomfield Tech in Tuesday’s semifinals.
