JERSEY CITY – Katie O’Neill had a goal and two assists as Kearny remains undefeated in county play after shutting out St. Dominic Academy 4-0 in the semifinals of the Hudson County Tournament at Caven Point.

O’Neill, a sophomore, picked up her first assist of the afternoon when teammate Stefanie Gomes ripped a shot right under the crossbar in the game’s 24th minute. Eleven minutes later, O’Neill would add a goal of her own to make it 2-0 in favor of the top-seeded Kardinals (14-3).

Mercedes Lois would add two second-half goals for insurance in the win. The first came off a cross from O’Neill. On the second goal, Lois headed in a rebound.

Raquel Bernardino and Fernanda Lois combined on the shutout for Kearny with neither having to make a save in the convincing victory.

Julie Lipyanka made 20 saves in net for the fifth-seeded Blue Devils (9-7).

The Kardinals will look to win their second-straight Hudson County Championship on Sunday at 11 a.m. against second-seeded Bayonne at Caven Point. In a rematch of last year’s title game.
