JERSEY CITY – Junior forward Lisa Rovatsos had two goals and an assist as second-seeded Bayonne cruised to 4-0 victory over in-city rival Holy Family Academy yesterday in the semifinals of the Hudson County Tournament at Caven Point.

Rovatsos was front and center for a Bayonne (12-2-1) offense which controlled the tempo for virtually the entire match.

After a series of near-misses Rovatsos and the Bees finally got on the scoreboard when she unleashed a shot from the right of the box for an unassisted goal in the 27th.

Bayonne, which outshot the sixth-seeded Falcons (8-7) by a 29-3 margin, would put the game away early in the second half with two goals in a span of three minutes. Marisa Gerard scored off a Rovatsos assist in the 47th minute. Rovatsos then followed it up with her second goal of the game in the 49th minute.

Freshman Kaitlyn Pallitto assisted on the third score and would later add a goal of her own late in the second half.

Sophomore Meghan O’Donnell made three saves to earn the shutout for the Bees.

Jacque-Lyn Johnson had a busy day in net for a Falcons team which was without three starters due to injury. Johnson, a junior, made 25 saves in defeat.

With the victory, the Bees will face top-seeded Kearny in Sunday’s championship game at 11 a.m. at Caven Point. The Kardinals handed Bayonne its only in-county loss this season, a 4-2 defeat back on September 29.
