HCT: Gomes paces Kards

Junior Stefanie Gomes scored three times as the top-seeded Kardinals cruised in the quarterfinals of the Hudson County Tournament yesterday in Kearny.
Janitza Aquino also found the back of the net for Kearny (11-2). Mercedes Lois added an assist in the win. With the victory, the Kardinals advance to face fifth-seeded St. Dominic Academy in the semifinals on Sunday at Caven Point.
Eighth-seeded Harrison falls to 4-6-2 on the season.
St. Dominic Academy 2, Secaucus 0
Julie Lipyanka made a staggering 18 saves to steal the victory for the fifth-seeded Blue Devils in the quarterfinals of the Hudson County Tournament yesterday in Secaucus.
Nina Giacchi and Ali Esposito each had goals for St. Dominic Academy (7-5) and Laurent Tredo added two assists. With the win, the Blue Devils will face Kearny in the semifinals on Sunday at Caven Point.
Fourth-seeded Secaucus falls to 11-4 on the season.
Bayonne 5, North Bergen 0
Kaitlin Pallitto scored twice as the second-seeded Bees cruised in the quarterfinals of the Hudson County Tournament yesterday in Bayonne.
Junior Lisa Rovatsos added a goal and two assists for Bayonne (9-2-1). Beatriz Hernandez and Alyssa Ruhlen also found the back of the net. Meghan O’Donnell made five saves goal for the shutout.
Ayeska Dipre made 15 saves for the seventh-seeded Bruins (4-9) in defeat.
With the win, Bayonne advances to face in-city rival Holy Family in the semifinals on Sunday at Caven Point.

Jacque-Lyn Johnson made 10 saves as the sixth-seeded Falcons advanced in the quarterfinals of the Hudson County Tournament yesterday in Jersey City.
Samantha Sysak had a goal and an assist to pace Holy Family (7-5) on offense. Kaydee Murphy and freshman Amelia Attisano also scored for the Falcons with Francesca Staunch adding an assist.
Brittany Miller made 10 saves in net for the third-seeded Cougars (9-4).
Holy Family will now play second-seeded Bayonne in the semifinals on Sunday at Caven Point.
