In their first year with a Hudson County schedule, it hasn’t taken long for Kearny to show that they are the county’s top team. Armed with a talented group of scorers led by Samantha Pace, Mercedes Lois and Catherine O’Neill, the Kardinals went undefeated in league play and earned the top seed in the Hudson County Girls Soccer Tournament.
Kearny is one of two teams to earn a first round bye in the tournament. No. 2 seed McNair is off to a 12-0-1 start behind the play of sisters Brianna, Brittany and Brooke Miller.
Bayonne may only be seeded No. 6, but with sophomore Lisa Rovatsos, the Bees have been Kearny’s toughest challenge thus far this season. No. 3 seed Holy Family and No. 4 seed St. Dominic Academy have a pair of dangerous offensive duos. The Falcons rely on a pair of Samantha’s in Pagano and Sysak, while the Blue Devils sport Lauren Tredo and Cecilia Sabbers among others.
The first round takes place on Saturday, October 17. The second round will take place on Saturday, October 24. The semifinals will be on Wednesday, October 28 at Caven Point. The final will be on Saturday, October 31 at Kearny.Click Here to view the tournament bracket as a printable JPEG
