Kearny dominant in state opener

Kearny 7, Bloomfield 0
Seven different players scored goals as the No. 3 seeded Kardinals blasted past Bloomfield in the opening round of the NJSIAA North 1, Group IV tournament yesterday at Kearny Stadium.
Ashleigh Amadeo, Janitza Aquino, Maggie Bilfulco, Haley Durning, Stefanie Gomes, Mercedes Lois and Katie O’Neill all scored for Kearny (18-2) in the victory. Gomes, Lois and O’Neill each added an assist as well.
Fernanda Lois made one save in net for the shutout.
Kearny will host No. 11 seed Vernon in the second round on Thursday.
