The seedings for the Hudson County Girls Basketball Tournament were announced yesterday with Bayonne earning the top seed.
Led by seniors Tara Flynn and Lisa Rovatsos, the Bees aim for a fourth-straight Hudson County championship. This season the senior duo along with a supporting cast of Alex Fajardo, Jesenia Montalvo and others have powered Bayonne to a 20-3 record and a perfect record within the county.
Lincoln is the No. 2 seed as the Jersey City school has gone 19-2 behind junior forward Breana Bey, the county's leading scorer. The Lions were a finalist in the 2010 Hudson County Tournament.
Last year's HCT runner up North Bergen is the No. 7 seed and will host Harrison in the first round. Marist is the No. 3 seed and Kearny has earned the fourth seed.
The tournament starts today with a trio of Play-In games as No. 16 seed Snyder is home to face No. 17 seed Dickinson, No. 15 seed Ferris hosts No. 18 seed University and No. 14 seed McNair will be home against No. 19 seed Memorial. The first round will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 14 with the quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 17. The Yanitelli Center at Saint Peter's College will host the semifinals on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. The finals will also be at Saint Peter's on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m.
