The Patriots remain unbeaten on the season after stunning host River Dell in overtime of the River Dell Holiday Tournament last night in Oradell.
Freshman Julia McClure forced overtime for Secaucus (4-0) when she took a Danielle Mitchell pass and hit the game-tying shot from six feet out at the buzzer. Andie Lennon then preserved the win overtime with her free throw with 2.5 seconds left to make it a two-point game.
Lennon led all scorers with 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds. McClure overcame some early foul trouble to finish with 16 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Junior Danielle Roesing chipped in with eight rebounds and four assists as the Patriots advance to face Paramus in the semifinals Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.
Kate Brock led the Golden Hawks (1-3) with 16 points and Jordan Bastable drained a trio of 3-pointers to finish with nine points in defeat.
