Andrea Innis, Secaucus

Andrea Innis had a double-double in her final game at Secaucus High.

University 56, Secaucus 36

A 23-7 University run in the second half proved too much for the Patriots to overcome as their season ended in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA North 2, Group I tournament last night in Secaucus.

Andrea Innis led the way in her final game with 17 points and 10 rebounds for No. 2 seeded Secaucus (22-5) in defeat. The senior ends her standout career with 1,903 points (a school record) and 1,013 rebounds. Fellow senior Shannon Waters, who scored 1,500-plus points in her career, had five points and seven rebounds. Junior Alyssa Lyngholm added five points as the Patriots used a third quarter surge to make the game 33-29.

Junior Brittney Sykes led the way for the Phoenix (20-7), ranked No. 7 in the state, with 22 points. St. John’s University-bound center Amber Thompson scored 22 points, 11 coming in the game-ending 23-7 run.
