Roundup: Marist gets revenge

Junior forward Jasmine Brandon had 21 points and 12 rebounds last night for Marist.

Marist 75, Union City 66

The forward duo of Antoinette Blake and Jasmine Brandon was lethal as the Royal Knights got a small measure of revenge last night in Bayonne.

Blake and Brandon had double-doubles for Marist (11-8), which lost to Union City (9-7) in the final seconds of their Hudson County Tournament matchup on Saturday. Blake led all scorers with 28 points and added 13 rebounds. Brandon, a junior, had 21 points and 21 rebounds. Sophomore Alexis Wilson chipped in with 11 points, four assists and four steals as the Royal Knights led by 20 after three quarters.

The Soaring Eagles received four 3-pointers apiece from Angela Estrada and Kristina Rivera. Estrada, a senior guard, finished with a team-high 19 points. Rivera and Shaela Rodriguez added 12 points apiece in the defeat.

Secaucus 65, Queen of Peace 47

Lauren Guillen was lights out from the outside, draining five 3-pointers for a as the Patriots extended their winning streak to 13 last night in North Arlington.

Guillen, a sophomore guard, finished with a career-high 17 points as Secaucus (15-2) pulled away with a 24-8 third quarter. Senior Andrea Innis scored a game-high 21 points to go with 14 rebounds and six assists. Sophomore Danielle Roesing just missed out on a double-double as she posted 11 points and nine rebounds. Ariana Simon chipped in with seven points and 11 rebounds.

Nikki Sammartino led the Golden Griffins (3-9) with 16 points. Amy Melok added 15 points in defeat.
