On Monday, the NJSIAA released the brackets for the State Football Tournaments which begin on Friday. In total seven teams from Hudson County have earned spots into the tournament.
Hoboken, Lincoln, North Bergen, Secaucus, St. Anthony, St. Peter's Prep and Union City will all represent Hudson County in the playoffs. While most of the teams knew their fate weeks in advance, the Soaring Eagles had to sweat it out to see if they would qualify. Union City was tied with Clifton in power points forthe eighth and final spot in the North 1, Group IV bracket, but won the tie-breaker over the Passaic county school. The Soaring Eagles will face West Orange in a rematch of a Sept. 16 matchup won by West Orange.
Six of the seven from Hudson will have opening round games this weekend. St. Anthony has earned a first round bye in the Non-Public, Group I/II bracket. They will play St. Joseph (Hammonton) at Caven Point on the weekend of Nov. 19.
