HCT Volleyball First Round

Ferris 2, Dickinson 0

Michael DeCastro had 15 assists, four digs and three blocks as the eighth-seeded Bulldogs were victorious by a score of 25-23, 25-17 in the first round of the Hudson County Tournament.

Noel Dagadot added six digs, four kills, three aces and three blocks for Ferris (7-11). Juan Almonte had six digs and Eric Maldonado chipped in with five kills.

Pete Rivera had nine kills and six blocks to pace the ninth-seeded Rams (6-14). Dave Bethea and Wally Perdomo added four kills apiece. Bethea and Denzel Clinton each had eight blocks. Ram Ubaldo had 15 assists and Raul Gallardo had four digs.

Ferris advances to face top-seeded Bayonne in the quarterfinals.

McNair 2, North Bergen 1

Jin Hwan Oh had nine kills and four blocks as the sixth-seeded Cougars rallied to a 13-25, 25-23, 25-16 victory in the first round of the Hudson County Tournament in Jersey City.

Da'Zhon Bethea added 19 service points, seven kills and five blocks for McNair (9-12) with Timothy Ngoge chipping in with five kills and six assists.

Eleventh-seeded North Bergen falls to 3-18 on the season.

McNair advances to face third-seeded St. Peter's Prep in the quarterfinals.

Union City 2, Lincoln 0

Julio Gonzalez had 17 assists as the seventh-seeded Soaring Eagles earned a 25-17, 25-12 victory in the first round of the Hudson County Tournament in Union City.

Rafael Barcos had five kills for Union City (10-10). Richy Melo and Ibrahim Benkenane added five kills apiece and Robert Torres chipped in with four kills.

The 10th-seeded Lions fell to 11-13 on the season.

With the victory Union City advances to face second-seeded Memorial in the quarterfinals.

Kearny 2, Snyder 0

Alberth Jimenez had seven digs and three kills as fifth-seeded Kearny advanced with a 25-9, 25-19 victory in the first round of the Hudson County Tournament in Kearny.

John Lemos had six kills for the Kardinals (13-12) Jonathan Horvaht had five digs with Konrad Balakier and Arkadiusz Milewski adding four digs apiece. Thiago DeCarvlho chipped in with nine assists.

The 12th-seeded Tigers fell to 1-20 on the season.
