Bayonne earns top seed in Hudson Tournament

Bayonne has earned the top seed in the 2012 Hudson County Boys Volleyball Tournament.

Behind the play of seniors Konrad Budny and Kris Kucza, the Bees reeled off 23-straight victories and are 23-5 on the season. Bayonne will receive a first round bye and will face the winner of Ferris/Dickinson in Tuesday's quarterfinal round.

Memorial (16-4) is the second seed with two-time defending champion St. Peter's Prep (12-7) earning the third seed. Bayonne, Memorial, St. Peter's Prep and fourth-seeded Harrison (15-5) have all earned first round byes.

First round action begins on Monday with the quarterfinals on Tuesday and the semifinals on Thursday. The championship match is on Friday, May 18 at NJCU at 7 p.m.

St. Peter's Prep swept Union City to win the Hudson County Tournament in 2011. The Marauders defeated Bayonne for the title in 2010.

Quarterfinals: Tuesday, May 15

Union City/Lincoln winner at 2-Memorial
McNair/North Bergen winner at 3-St. Peter's Prep
Kearny/Snyder winner at 4-Harrison

Semifinals: Thursday, May 17
