HCT: Bayonne advances to final

Bayonne will play for a fifth-straight county title after sweeping Harrison.

Sophomore Kris Kucza had seven digs and five kills as the Bees will play for a fifth-straight county title after defeating Harrison 25-15, 25-20 in the Hudson County Tournament semifinals yesterday in Bayonne.

Richie Boyle had six kills, five digs and two blocks for second-seeded Bayonne (16-6), the four-time defending champions. Konrad Budny and Khaled Abdelaal added six and four digs respectively. Arhtur Kosakowski had three kills and three blocks in the win. Rafal Kierznowski added three kills and Jeric Pimentel chipped in with a trio of digs.

Chris Osiecki had seven kills and five digs for the third-seeded Blue Tide (15-7). Victor Narvaez had 15 assists and David Passos added three digs in defeat.

With the victory, Bayonne will face top-seeded St. Peter’s Prep in tonight’s championship match to be held at 7 p.m. at NJCU. The Marauders earned their trip to the final after sweeping fourth-seeded McNair 25-14, 25-10.

St. Peter’s Prep took both regular season matches against Bayonne.
