HCT: McNair, Harrison advance

Theodorous Economou McNair

Theodorous Economou had 17 assists for fourth-seeded McNair.

Peter Sikorski had 10 kills, five digs and three blocks as fourth-seeded McNair swept past fifth-seeded Union City 25-17, 25-21 in the quarterfinals of the Hudson County Tournament yesterday in Jersey City.

Fernando Tatis added six blocks, five kills and three digs for the Cougars (17-6) in the win. Jose Diaz had five digs and Jin Hwan Oh chipped in four kills. Theodorous Economou added 17 assists, three kills and three digs.

With the win, McNair will face top-seeded St. Peter’s Prep in the semifinals tomorrow.

Union City falls to 13-10 on the season.

Ricky Touzet had 11 kills, 10 digs and four aces as the third-seeded Blue Tide swept Kearny 25-16, 25-17 in the quarterfinals of the Hudson County Tournament yesterday in Harrison.

Junior Rahim Douelfakar added seven kills, six blocks and five digs for Harrison (14-6). Chris Osiecki had seven digs and four kills. Matt Surmacz added three kills and three digs. Victor Narvaez and David Passos chipped in with three digs apiece. Narvaez, a sophomore, also had 17 assists.

The Kardinals fall to 12-13 on the season.
