UC wins in final minutes

Kevin Morales' three goals led Union City to the North 1, Group IV semifinals.

Kevin Morales snapped a 2-all tie with just two minutes left as the Soaring Eagles advanced in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA North 1, Group IV tournament yesterday in Union City.
Morales scored all three goals for fourth-seeded Union City (13-5-2) as they raced out to a 2-0 lead. Morales, a senior forward, now has five goals in two state playoff games.
Morris Knolls tied the game up on second-half goals from Zack Bakun and Evan Steidl.
Jesus Amaro made nine saves in net for the Soaring Eagles. With the win, Union City advances to play top-seeded and No. 2 ranked West Orange in the semifinals on Monday.
Seton Hall Prep 5, St. Peter’s Prep 1
Seton Hall’s Hayden Harr had a goal and two assists as the state’s top-ranked team ended the Marauders’ season yesterday in West Orange in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Non-Public, North A tournament.
Jon Azzinnari and Erik Sa had a goal and an assist each for the second-seeded Pirates (16-0-2), ranked ninth in the country by ESPN Rise. Aymeric Vincenti and Billy Zimmermann also scored goals for Seton Hall Prep. Tim Janes and Casey DeFluri made five and one saves respectively in the win.
Anthony Gomes scored the lone goal for seventh-seed St. Peter’s Prep (14-7) and Dan Freeman made five saves in net.
Oratory Prep 6, Hudson Catholic 0
The Hawks saw their season come to an end yesterday in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Non-Public, North B tournament.
Wednesday
Harrison 3, Weehawken 0
Carlos Gutierrez made six saves for the shutout as the third-seeded Blue Tide advanced during Wednesday’s NJSIAA North 2, Group I quarterfinal in Harrison.
Willie Aguilar had two assists for Harrison (15-2-3). Chris Osiecki, Michael Barbosa and Guilherme DeSiguenza all had a goal apiece in the victory.
With the win, the Blue Tide will face No. 2 seed New Providence in Monday’s semifinals.
