Behind goalie Jimmy Doran and the scoring of Leo Chemin and Eddie Silva, Kearny has earned the top spot in the upcoming Hudson County Boys Soccer Tournament. The Kardinals, who were in the Wachtung Conference before this season, are 10-2 thus far.

The No. 2 seed is another team that was not a part of the old HCIAA. Harrison earned the second spot with a 10-2 record behind the offensive duo of Bryan Aguilar and Omar Flores. Playing in the BCSL National division, this is the Blue Tide’s first game action against many of Hudson County’s top teams.

Harrison and Kearny are not the only threats to win this tournament. No. 5 seed Dickinson boasts one of the state’s most exciting players in Maxi Garcia. St. Peter’s Prep (No. 3), Memorial (No. 4), Union City (No. 7) and North Bergen (No. 8) have been battle-tested by a strong Hudson County Division A schedule. No. 6 seed High Tech is also a dark horse candidate. Behind Kevin Mayaka and Jose Arismendi, the Lasercats are dominated the smaller schools in Division B and sport a 13-1 record.

The first round takes place on Saturday, October 17. The second round will take place on Saturday, October 24. The semifinals will be on Wednesday, October 28 at Harrison. The final will be on Saturday, October 31 at Kearny.
