After three months of drama, exciting plays, standout performances and a shattered backboard, the 2011-2012 high school basketball season in Hudson County has come to a close.
This season saw St. Anthony finish undefeated for the second-straight season, ending with a Tournament of Champions win over Plainfield. It also marked the last chapter in the remarkable career of UCLA-bound Kyle Anderson, who was a perfect 65-0 in the Friars' maroon and gold and was selected as a McDonald's All-American.
While Anderson and St. Anthony continued their reign at the top, there was a changing of the guard throughout the county. Hudson Catholic won its first Hudson County Tournament, ending a four-year reign of in-city rival St. Peter's Prep. On the girls side, Lincoln stunned three-time defending champion Bayonne to win the Hudson County Tournament.
As we say farewell to the season, here are our selections for Hudson County Varsity's Third Annual All-County Team.

Anderson wasn't just Hudson County's premier talent, but arguably the best in the nation as he led the Friars to a second-straight undefeated season. The 6-foot-9 senior did it all, leading St. Anthony in points (14.9), rebounds (6.6), assists (4.1), steals (1.7) and blocks (1.2) per game. Regardless of position, the McDonald's All-American thrived at the spot. The UCLA-bound Anderson scored a career-high 35 points vs Medford Tech and had 15 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks in the Non-Public B title game vs Gill St. Bernard's. |

Statistically this season was the best defensive team in St. Anthony history and Brown was at the forefront of that success. Primarily matched up against opposing point guards, the 6-foot-2 Temple commit used his wingspan to guard some of the state's top forwards. Offensively, Brown saw time at both guard spots and used his quickness to attack the basket. He averaged 8.1 points, 2.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game. Brown scored 17 points vs Medford Tech and added 13 points in the Non-Public B game vs Gill St. Bernard's. |

The 5-foot-10 point guard made an instant impact for Dickinson, averaging 15 points, eight assists and three steals per game. Burno was capable of taking over a game as evident by his 27 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds vs Marist in the Hudson County Tournament.
