Despite five 3-pointers from David Strandberg, the Indians' upset bid fell short last night in Weehawken.
Strandberg finished with 25 points for a Weehawken (11-11) squad, which led 22-20 after the first quarter. Senior center Roberto Moran had 14 points and 19 rebounds. Juniors Damian Corredor and Dante Cieri scored 11 points apiece with Corredor adding nine rebounds and four assists. Kenny Minier had 10 points and Humberto Leigue chipped in with eight points and six assists.
Wood-Ridge (18-1) were led by the dynamic duo of Gary Whritenour and Angel Colon. Whritenour drained five 3-pointers en route to a 36-point outburst. Colon scored 31 points. Michael Gibney added four 3-pointers of his own as he finished with 17 points.
