Hawks get top seed in HCT |

The seedings for the Hudson County Boys Basketball Tournament were announced yesterday with Hudson Catholic earning the top seed.
Led by the junior quartet of Reggie Cameron, Rakwan Kelly, Kavon Stewart and Mike Young, the Hawks, ranked eighth in the state, have gone unbeaten in the HCIAL this season and are currently 18-2 overall. This marks the second-straight year Hudson Catholic has earned the top seed. In 2011 they advanced in the semifinals before losing in overtime to Marist.
St. Peter's Prep, the four-time defending reigning Hudson County champs, are the No. 2 seed. The core of those teams may be gone, but a brand new cast led by sophomore Austin White and Monmouth-bound forward Tyrone O'Garro have propelled the Marauders to a 16-5 record and just one loss in league play.
Marist, who lost to Prep in last year's title game, is seeded fourth. Bayonne is the third seed.
The tournament starts today with a pair of Play-In games as No. 16 seed Secaucus is home to face No. 17 seed Kearny and No. 15 seed McNair hosts No. 18 seed Harrison. The first round will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 14 with the quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 17. The Yanitelli Center at Saint Peter's College will host the semifinals on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. The finals will also be at Saint Peter's on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
