Roundup: Marist comes back to defeat Dickinson

Marist 59, Dickinson 56

Manny Suarez and Andrew Martinez each had double-doubles as the Royal Knights overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to earn a big road win last night in Jersey City.

Suarez, a junior, had 14 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks for Marist (11-7), winners of three-straight. Martinez, a senior, added 13 points and 11 rebounds. Devyn Ransom had 11 rebounds and four assists. Anthony White and Brandon Walsh chipped in with eight and seven points respectively.

Tyquan Burno led the Rams (14-5) with a game-high 17 points and eight assists. Sophomore Duane James scored 16 points to go with eight rebounds. Denzel Clinton and David Bethea added 10 and eight points respectively for a Dickinson squad which had won six in a row.

Weehawken 56, Saddle Brook 40

Roberto Moran had a double-double as the Indians won their fifth game out of their last six last night in Weehawken.

Moran, a senior, had 13 points and 15 rebounds for Weehawken (10-9). Junior Damian Corredor led all scorers with 16 points to go with six rebounds and David Strandberg scored 12 points.

Mike Croce led the visiting Falcons (9-9) with 11 points. Alex Fernandez and Chris Alonso added nine and eight points respectively in defeat.

Hudson Catholic 91, Kearny 33

Kavon Stewart had his second triple-double of the season as the Hawks rolled yesterday in Kearny.

Stewart, a junior, had 10 points, 11 assists and 10 steals for Hudson Catholic (17-2), winners of 13-straight games. Reggie Cameron (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Mike Young (14 points, 12 rebounds) also had double-doubles. Freshman Nassir Barrino scored 10 points, while Rakwan Kelly and Marc Wilson added eight points apiece. Twelve different players scored points on the day for a Hawks squad which exploded for 32 points in the second quarter.

Thiago Cruz led the Kardinals (5-16) with six points. Nine different Kearny players scored in the defeat.
