Roundup: Bees outlast Bulldogs, Hawks win big

Bayonne 70, Ferris 55

Rodney Wilson scored 17 points as the Bees used a 26-15 fourth quarter to pull away last night in Bayonne.

Guards Quadry Callaway and Steve Betancurth each drained a trio of 3-pointers to finish with 14 points apiece for Bayonne (4-2). Senior Jonathan Jackson had a double-double performance with 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Bees had an eight-point lead at the half.

Darian Rodriguez connected on three 3-pointers to lead the visiting Bulldogs (3-4) with 17 points. Carell Dawson scored 15 points and James Walker chipped in with 10 points in defeat.

Hudson Catholic 95, Lincoln 39

Eleven different players scored for the Hawks as they rolled to a convincing victory in their home opener last night in Jersey City.

Juniors Michael Young and Reggie Cameron led the scoring barrage with 17 points apiece for Hudson Catholic (5-2). Young added 12 rebounds for the double-double and Cameron pulled down seven.

Rakwan Kelly had 14 points, six rebounds and five steals in the win. Iona-bound guard Grant Ellis scored 12 points and junior Kavon Stewart chipped in with eight points and eight assists.

Wood-Ridge 88, Weehawken 65

Despite four players scoring in double-figures, the Indians fell short against defending North 1, Group 1 champions Wood-Ridge last night in Wood-Ridge.

Senior center Roberto Moran led the way for Weehawken (4-2) with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Junior Damian Corredor added 13 points and seven rebounds as the Indians trailed by just three at the half. Dante Cieri and David Strandberg teamed up to hit five 3-pointers as they finished with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Vincent O'Beirne led the way for the host Blue Devils (6-0) with 23 points. Gary Whritenour added 21 and Michael Gibney scored 19 points as Wood-Ridge used a 34-point third quarter to break away.
