The balls have been put away and the lights have been turned off on a 2010-2011 high school basketball season in Hudson County that certainly wasn't lacking in memorable moments.

This season saw St. Anthony finish undefeated and pick up a fourth mythical national championship in four different decades. The Friars won 33 games, including a March showdown with St. Patrick in what was one of the most anticipated matchups in high school history.

St. Anthony was hardly the only ones to make headlines. The Bayonne girls and St. Peter’s Prep boys continued their dominance in their respective leagues. The Bees won a third-straight county championship while the Marauders took home a fourth-straight championship.

As we say farewell to the season, here are our selections for Hudson County Varsity's Second Annual All-County Team.

2011 HCV All-County First Team
David Almonte
Almonte

Forward: David Almonte, Senior, Memorial

The Tigers had one of Hudson County's biggest turnarounds going from eight wins a year ago to 19 with Almonte as one of the catalysts in the turnaround. The senior forward led Memorial in scoring, averaging 18 points per game while being equally comfortable in the paint as the perimeter. More than just a scorer, Almonte also averaged six rebounds, three steals and three assists per game.

Kyle Anderson
Anderson

Guard/Forward: Kyle Anderson, Junior, St. Anthony

With his combination of skills and versatility, Anderson excels at all five positions on the court and is one of the country’s most sought-after players. The 6-foot-8 junior averaged 14.4 points per game while leading the national champion Friars in rebounds (7.5), assists (4.2) and blocks (1.5) per game. In the Tournament of Champions final against Plainfield, he had17 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

Brent Burgess
Burgess

Guard: Brent Burgess, Senior, Dickinson

The sparkplug of the Rams’ offense, Burgess was one of the league’s most dangerous scorers. The 5-foot-8 senior averaged more than 17 points per game to lead Dickinson to 15 wins this season. With his deep shooting range and ability to attack the rim, Burgess was capable of lighting up the scoreboard at any time. He scored 32 points against Union City, added 30 in a win over Morristown and 29 vs Westfield.

Reggie Cameron
Cameron

Forward: Reggie Cameron, Sophomore, Hudson Catholic

The Hawks burst to the scene as a state contender this season with Cameron at the forefront of the resurgence. The 6-foot-7 sophomore averaged 19.1 points and 10 rebounds per game as he terrorized opponents from the perimeter with 72 3-pointers. Cameron had a 12-game stretch when he scored 20+ points 11 times and had nine double-doubles. His play has him already receiving heavy D1 interest.

Lucky Jones
Jones

Guard/Forward: Lucious Jones, Senior, St. Anthony

The 6-foot-6 Jones was indispensible on both sides of the floor for the Friars. Often matched up against the opposition’s top scorer, Jones thrived in the role as he helped limit Kentucky-bound Michael Gilchrist to seven points. Against Hudson Catholic, Jones had 18 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and held Reggie Cameron to four points. Jones averaged 10.3 points and 6.2 rebounds a game for the season.

Keith Lumpkin
Lumpkin

Center: Keith Lumpkin, Senior, St. Peter's Prep

Few players in the state were as intimidating in the paint as the 6-foot-9, 280-pound Lumpkin. The Rutgers (football)-bound senior was a double-double machine averaging of 14.5 points and 12.8 rebounds for Prep to go with 2.2 blocks per game. Against Roselle Catholic, he had 11 points, 13 rebounds and held Jameel Warney to just one point. Lumpkin’s 1,068 career points are sixth in St. Peter’s Prep history.

Myles Mack

Guard: Myles Mack, Senior, St. Anthony

One of the most explosive point guards in the country, Mack made the transition to St. Anthony look easy with his speed and shooting range. The Rutgers-bound senior led the Friars with 15.0 points per game and had 3.6 assists and 2.9 steals per game. Mack had 19 points, five steals and four assists vs St. Patrick. Against DeMatha, Mack hit six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 28 points.

A four-year starter, Walker was asked to be “the man” for Prep and responded with his finest season. Walker cemented his place in Marauder history as he became the school’s all-time assist leader. He also scored his 1,000th point and finishes fourth on the all-time scoring list. Walker averaged 17 points, 7.2 assists and four rebounds per game this season, highlighted by a triple-double vs North Bergen.
